Jubal is built by people who have been preparing to build it for a long time. On the software side: three decades of designing, shipping, and operating production systems — from PKZip and the ZIP standard through telephone networks and developer platforms — the unglamorous discipline of software that has to work every day.

On the law side: a forty-year practice. And between the two, a thirty-year working relationship — the builders and the practice have been trading work, arguments, and ideas since long before anyone called this category anything.

Why law first? Because roughly 1.2 million American attorneys practise outside the AmLaw 100, in firms with no innovation department, no litigation-support staff, and no patience for software that creates work instead of doing it. They were our first customers before we wrote a line of code, because they were our colleagues.

Hospice came next for the same reason. The documentation burden is crushing, the software is an afterthought, and the people carrying it are doing the most consequential work in medicine. Jubal med is in beta with those teams now.

The name comes from Jubal Harshaw of Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land — lawyer, doctor, and writer, a professional several times over, with no patience for nonsense and absolute loyalty to the people he served. He is the roadmap in miniature: Jubal law for the lawyers, Jubal med for the doctors — and for the writers, Jubal ink, on the way.
